About the Founder

Profile

Cherish A. Thompson, Esq. is an internationally qualified attorney, licensed for twenty (21) years as a counsellor at law in New York, Florida, Washington, D.C., England & Wales, and the Republic of Ireland. She is also a multi-accredited mediator in the UK and the U.S. She is well-known and well-respected in the legal community and receives excellent reviews from her clientele who trust and rely upon her. She is conversant in Spanish and French, and has a rudimentary knowledge of Russian.

Clientele

Miss Thompson's clientele has included Chase Home, J.P. Morgan, PwC LLP, Canada, General Electric, Larkin Community Hospital, FirstBank Puerto Rico, Sun American Bank, Ocean Bank, and a former Ambassador to the United Nations. Thompson has handled various commercial law matters for other prestigious organisations such as Hard Rock Hotels, the AIC Hotel Group, Nobu Eden Roc; and SBE Entertainment Group including owner/operator disputes, trademark infringement claims, as well as claims under the ADA Website Accessibility. Thompson has the privilege of acting as general counsel for a family office with an iconic brand.

Practice Areas

Cherish advises clients in all capacities from alternative dispute resolution to commercial litigation, and insolvency, including litigation issues relevant to the UCC, NACHA, EFTA, ISP-98 for letter of credit cases, indemnity, breach of fiduciary duty, foreclosures, and bankruptcies as well as international fraud, fraudulent transfer, and alter ego cases. She has substantive experience in creditors' remedies, covering executions, replevin, garnishment, fraudulent transfers, constructive trust, stay relief, conversion, civil theft, abatement, non-dischargeability; and the domestication of foreign judgments. Thompson acts as general counsel to a few select family offices, drafting loan agreements, family trusts, pre and post-nuptial agreements, articles of incorporation, bylaws, articles of organisation, and handles sensitive probate matters.

Originally from Wenham, Massachusetts, Miss Thompson attended Pine Crest Preparatory Boarding School, matriculated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from the Johns Hopkins University, and a minor in Voice from the Peabody Conservatory. Miss Thompson attended a tier one law school at the University of Miami School of Law, where her honours included Dean’s List, Law Review and Moot Court as top 10% of the class, the Book Award in Business Associations as first in her class, the Symposium Editor of the Law Review, and winner of the State Moot Court, Advanced Moot Court, and 1-L Moot Court competitions. She graduated cum laude with the distinction of having her name engraved on the Law Library walls, and performing the Alma Mater, ‘Stand Forever’ to the 10,000 guests in attendance.

Miss Thompson remains actively involved in charity, and has devoted her time to organisations such as the Junior League, Queen Charlotte's Hospital, and the Soldiers and Sailors of America as well as the Red Cross and Wounded Warriors. As part of the Zeus World Peace Foundation, she had the privilege to act as a local ambassador for H.R.H

Miss Thompson remains actively involved in charity, and has devoted her time to organisations such as the Junior League, Queen Charlotte's Hospital, and the Soldiers and Sailors of America as well as the Red Cross and Wounded Warriors. As part of the Zeus World Peace Foundation, she had the privilege to act as a local ambassador for H.R.H. the Prince Edward and the Duke of Edinburgh Charities and Awards.

A third generation attorney, Miss Thompson's grandfather wrote speeches for JFK and negotiated on behalf of the labor union with Jimmy Hoffa. Her great grand-father was honoured with the Victoria Cross and the Croix de Guerre and her godfather, Major General R. Holley Keefler, CBE DSO ED, was honoured with the Order of the British Empire
